Setting up your Awin URL tagging for attribution and reporting drill down
Awin UTM Tagging
Ruler supports Awin tracking parameters to provide attribution and reporting on Awin affiliate campaigns.
For the best attribution accuracy and reporting granularity within Ruler, we recommend ensuring your Awin landing page URLs include the following parameters.
Unlike paid advertising platforms, Awin uses affiliate-specific tracking parameters alongside standard UTM parameters. These allow Ruler to identify the affiliate source and provide additional campaign reporting detail.
Supported Parameters
| Parameter | Recommended Value |
|---|---|
utm_source | awin |
utm_medium | paid |
utm_campaign | Manual campaign name |
campaign_id | Manually configured publisher ID |
transaction_id | Populated by Awin |
transaction_part_id | Populated by Awin |
Recommended URL Parameters
Add the following parameters to your Awin tracking configuration:
utm_source=awin&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=YOUR_CAMPAIGN_NAME&campaign_id=YOUR_PUBLISHER_IDReplace:
YOUR_CAMPAIGN_NAMEwith the relevant Awin campaign name.YOUR_PUBLISHER_IDwith the applicable Awin publisher ID.
Important
Ensure publisher IDs are configured correctly. The publisher ID is used by Ruler to identify the affiliate source and provide accurate reporting.
Using unsupported parameter names or incorrect values may result in inaccurate attribution or limit reporting drill-downs within Ruler.
Configure Awin Tracking
To configure your Awin tracking:
- Identify the Awin campaign and publisher details you want to track.

- Verify that the correct publisher and campaign information is being captured.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I already have UTM parameters?
If you already have Awin tracking parameters configured, you do not need to replace your existing setup.
Simply ensure Ruler's recommended parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and campaign_id) are included alongside your existing tracking structure.
What happens if I don't update my UTM tagging?
Ruler may still receive Awin traffic, but without the recommended parameters your reporting will be limited.
You may see more "(not set)" values and reduced visibility into affiliate campaign and publisher-level performance.
If you need assistance configuring Awin tracking or reviewing your existing URL parameters, contact the Ruler support team at [email protected].
