Ruler Analytics Cookies and Cookie Consent

Ruler Analytics uses first-party cookies on your website to help track a visitor's journey and understand where they came from.

Ruler's tracking script requires first-party cookies to be available in order to provide the full tracking functionality. If a visitor blocks or declines cookies, some of their activity may not be captured by Ruler.

We recommend informing your website visitors about Ruler's use of cookies as part of your website's cookie and privacy practices.

For more information, see our Ruler Analytics Cookie Policy.

Cookie Consent

If your website uses a cookie consent banner, we recommend ensuring that it is clear, prominent, and easy for visitors to interact with.

The configuration and behaviour of your cookie consent banner can affect the number of visitors who provide consent for analytics and tracking cookies. As a result, visitors who decline or do not consent to the relevant cookies may not be fully trackable by Ruler.

Your cookie consent solution should be configured in accordance with your organisation's privacy requirements and applicable legislation.

What Cookies Does Ruler Use?

Ruler uses cookies to support different aspects of its tracking functionality.

CookieDescription
racntCounts the number of Ruler Dynamic Phone Numbers displayed to a visitor.
racplxXStores the complex selector information used by Ruler to select numbers displayed on a page.
raselXStores the selector value used by Ruler to identify the appropriate phone number.

Note: Cookie names containing X may have a variable value depending on the configuration or instance in which the cookie is used.

What Happens When Cookies Are Blocked?

If a visitor blocks or declines the relevant cookies, Ruler may not be able to capture their complete customer journey.

This can result in some opportunities or revenue being unattributed, as there may not be enough tracking information to connect the conversion back to the visitor's original marketing source.

SmartFill

To help reduce reporting gaps caused by missed tracking, Ruler provides a feature called SmartFill.

SmartFill proportionally redistributes unattributed opportunity or revenue records uploaded from your CRM across known marketing channels. This helps provide a more complete view of marketing performance when some customer journeys cannot be directly attributed due to missing tracking data.

For more information, see our SmartFill documentation.
